Diocese of Rochester officials announced recently that the Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA) has exceeded the $6 million mark for the second consecutive year — the first two times in the 36-year history of the campaign.
The 2016-17 campaign, which ends May 31, is more than two months ahead of last year’s pace as it attempts to reach its goal of $6.35 million, according to information from the diocese. To date, more than 27,000 households have contributed to the campaign with an average gift of $221.
“We are so fortunate to have so many generous families willing to help address the charitable, spiritual and educational needs of thousands of individuals and families throughout the Diocese of Rochester,” said David Kelly, campaign coordinator.
CMA proceeds enable the diocese to provide support to parishes, and they also benefit Catholic Charities and its outreach to the poor and those in need.
