On 9/11 anniversary, flags honor service

Beginning on Sept. 10, 200 American flags filled the large lawn in front of the Mercy Center in Brighton as part of a Field of Honor display that will remain until Sept. 13. Sponsorships were sold for each flag, with proceeds benefiting Mercy Bridges, an English-language tutoring program that is a ministry of the Sisters of Mercy. On Sept. 11, the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks, an opening ceremony was held to honor the military personnel and first responders for whom the flags fly. (Courier video by Mike Crupi)
