Rwanda genocide survivor speaks at conference

Hundreds of women gathered at Aquinas Institute in Rochester for the annual Rochester Catholic Women's Conference March 18. The event began with Mass celebrated by Bishop Salvatore R. Matano, followed by a presentation from guest speaker Immaculee Ilibagiza. Ilibagiza is a survivor of the 1994 Rwanda genocide, living 91 days inside a small bathroom with seven other women in order to escape the massacre. She has since forgiven those who murdered her family members and committed herself to a life of peace. (Courier video by Jeff Witherow)
