The Catholic Courier is again presenting an Advent Coloring Contest for children ages 3 to 12. As in years’ past, the contest will feature five age categories: 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12. Children are asked to do their best coloring of a scene of baby Jesus with the animals and shepherd, and then submit their finished work.
We will then invite visitors to the Courier website to vote for the photo of their favorite submission in each age category, with the young artist receiving the most votes in each age category winning a prize. In addition, the Courier staff will select its favorite submission in each age category and award a prize to each of those young artists as well.
2023 Coloring Contest Rules
We will begin accepting entries for the contest on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023.
The Advent Coloring Contest is open to children ages 3 to 12 only.
To enter, please follow these instructions:
Print and color the scene. (Click here or at the photo below to print picture)
Take a well-lighted photo of your child’s colored picture and save it to your phone or computer.
Entries must be submitted through a form on our website. Click on the correct age category below to open the corresponding form to submit your child’s entry. If you are submitting more than one entry, you need to fill out a form for each entry.
3-4 year olds
5-6 year olds
7-8 year olds
9-10 year olds
11-12 year olds
Only if issues arise in using the online form, entries may be emailed to Newsroom@CatholicCourier.com with the subject line “Coloring Contest.” Include the child’s age, full name, and what parish and/or Catholic school the child attends. Entries will not be accepted by U.S. mail.
The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023. Photos will not be accepted after Nov. 22, 2023.
To be eligible to win a prize, children must reside in one of the Diocese of Rochester’s 12 counties (Cayuga, Chemung, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne and Yates).
Voting Rules
Starting at noon on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, visitors to the Catholic Courier’s website will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite image in each age category.
Visitors may vote only once per day in each age category during the contest term.
The last day to vote is Dec. 10, 2023.
Winners will be notified the week of Dec. 11, 2023. All entries will appear in the Courier’s 2023 Advent Calendar.
