A new book on the writings of St. Augustine, cowritten by a monk from a Livingston County monastery, is available for purchase.
Creation’s Song features excerpts from, and reflections on, St. Augustine’s expositions of the Psalms. The book was released in December 2022 by Brother Augustine Jackson, a cloistered monk in the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance — or Trappist — religious order. Brother Jackson served as the book’s coauthor along with Mary McDonald, Ph.D.
Brother Jackson is a longtime resident at Abbey of the Genesee, located in Piffard near Geneseo.
The abbey is well-known for its production of Monks’ Bread and welcoming guests for retreats, worship and other types of spiritual reflection.
