Abbey of the Genesee opens newly renovated bread store

The newly renovated bread store at Abbey of the Genesee is now open to the public.

The store has been enlarged and relocated within the abbey’s gatehouse, as part of a major renovation that began a year ago. Available in the store is the signature Monk’s Bread — baked by Trappist monks who reside at the monastery in Piffard, Livingston County — as well as such additional foods as artisan breads and biscotti. Also for sale are an expanded array of Catholic gift items.

Bread store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. until the beginning of 10 a.m. Mass (the liturgy is open to the public) and again after Mass until noon.
