The newly renovated bread store at Abbey of the Genesee is now open to the public.
The store has been enlarged and relocated within the abbey’s gatehouse, as part of a major renovation that began a year ago. Available in the store is the signature Monk’s Bread — baked by Trappist monks who reside at the monastery in Piffard, Livingston County — as well as such additional foods as artisan breads and biscotti. Also for sale are an expanded array of Catholic gift items such as rosaries and crucifixes, as well as a new selection of books.
Bread store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. until the beginning of 10 a.m. Mass (the liturgy is open to the public) and again after Mass until noon.
