To the editor:
There is no doubting the intrinsic evil of taking a life. However, I believe the efforts to ban abortion, prevent euthanasia, etc. are short-sighted. These tragedies are not the beginnings of moral decay they are the fruits. If one doesn’t value the inherent dignity of every person then not only will there be homeless and hungry people, there will be victims of every crime. It is time that we decide to put the major effort at the source not the effect. It is time to stop judging, stop bullying, stop lying, stop cheating, stop valuing money and goods and start valuing the goodness of God’s creation. It is time to put our hearts into efforts to appreciate each other, to talk civilly with each other, and to walk in each other’s shoes not only in charity but in love.
