Activist will appear in Elmira on Feb. 11

Mercy Sister Camille D’Arienzo, a noted writer, lecturer and activist, will speak at Elmira Notre Dame High School on Saturday, Feb. 11. Her lecture, on the topic of “Reconciliation in a Broken World,” will begin at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.

Sister D’Arienzo, a Brooklyn resident, is well-known for her radio commentary that has been carried on WINS-1010 AM, a New York City station, since 1973. She is the recipient of many awards and has consistently voiced a forceful and Gospel-based opposition to capital punishment.

The Feb. 11 event, which is open to the public, is part of Notre Dame’s yearlong 50th-anniversary celebration. There is no admission charge, although free-will offerings will be accepted. For details, call 607/734-2267.
