Food Bank of the Southern Tier, an agency of Catholic Charities, is inviting people to take part in National Hunger Awareness Day on Tuesday, June 7.
The food bank, located along Consumer Square on County Route 64 in Big Flats, will hold a reception and ceremony for volunteers and donors from 5 to 6:30 p.m. that day. To make a reservation, call Amy Shaw at 607/796-6061, ext. 33, or e-mail her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
National Hunger Awareness Day, now in its fourth year, features numerous activities to raise public consciousness about hunger in the United States, where 36 million residents — including 80,000 in the Southern Tier — do not know where their next meal will come from.
