Agencies still seeking aid for flood victims

Tioga County-area relief agencies have an ongoing need for assistance toward victims of recent flooding.

Tioga Opportunities is seeking such items as nonperishable food, bottled water, bleach, paper towels, dishwashing soap, personal-care items, clothing, toys, sheets, towels and blankets. The agency is located at Countryside Community Center, 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego. For details, contact Matthew Zaccardo, at 607/687-4222, ext. 329. In addition, donations of furniture and appliances are sought by First Church of the Nazarene. Contact Larry Warner at 607/687-4167.

Those in need of the above items are encouraged to contact the people listed above.

Catholic Charities Tioga Outreach Center continues its collection of donations for flood victims. Especially needed are store gift cards to be used toward food and household needs, and monetary donations for repairs, cleaning, etc. Checks should be made out to Catholic Charities of Tompkins/Tioga. Donations should be mailed to Catholic Charities, 324 W. Buffalo St., Ithaca, NY 14850.

Also, cleanup kits are available at Blessed Trinity/St. Patrick church entrances. Anybody needing additional supplies should call the parish office at 607/687-1068.
