All Saints Academy in Corning has made notable achievements at of late in the areas of fitness and running.
For the fourth consecutive year, All Saints has earned the highest achievement award for physical fitness, being honored as the President’s Challenge Physical Fitness state-champion school for 2011-12. This award is presented to schools of similar enrollment who have the highest percentage of students qualifying for the Presidential Physical Fitness Award. Students at these schools earned scores in the 85th percentile or higher on the Physical Fitness Test. At All Saints this was accomplished under the guidance of Tom Ketchum, the school’s physical-education and health teacher.
In addition, four All Saints cross-country runners recently competed in the National Junior Olympic finals in Albuquerque, N.M. Cleo Baker, Alivia Collins, Angela Collins and Faithe Ketchum all qualified for the national meet by placing in the top 20 in their respective age divisions during regional competition held Nov. 18.
