Roman Catholics in the 12-county Diocese of Rochester have donated more than $4.4 million toward the $5.3 million Catholic Ministries Appeal goal for 2006-07.
According to Dave Kelly, appeal coordinator, the CMA had received just under 34,000 commitments totalling $4,403,247 as of Dec. 26. Kelly noted that this represents 83.1 percent of the diocesan goal and is approximately $350,000 ahead of last year’s pace at the same point. The 2005-06 appeal brought in just under $4.5 million from more than 37,000 donors.
The appeal, in its 26th year under Bishop Matthew H. Clark, supports parishes, schools and numerous ministries throughout the diocese.
