Applications are available for Catholic Campaign for Human Development grants for programs in Cayuga, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates counties.
The U.S. bishops founded the CCHD in 1970 to work toward the elimination of poverty and injustice in America by funding small self-help programs initiated and led by poor people, regardless of their religious affiliation. Projects that have received grants in the past have created sustainable jobs, preserved affordable housing, improved neighborhoods, enhanced opportunities for youths and helped the poor find a dignified way out of poverty.
Funding for local CCHD grants is raised through an annual collection in local Catholic parishes. Completed grant applications must be received by May 24 to be eligible for funding.
