Father Joseph A. Grasso, CPpS, has resigned as principal of Rochester’s Aquinas Institute, the school announced April 13.
The priest became Aquinas’ principal in September 2004. In a statement, the school noted that Father Grasso resigned to “pursue other interests” within his order, the Missionaries of the Precious Blood.
Sally Cardilli, who served as principal for two years prior to Father Grasso’s arrival, has been appointed as interim principal. Father Grasso will remain at Aquinas until May 2 to assist Cardilli, according to Joseph B. Knapp, the school’s director of public relations.
Prior to serving at Aquinas, Father Grasso was principal of Brighton’s Siena Catholic Academy, a diocesan junior high school. He was ordained a Precious Blood priest in 1991.
“Since Father Grasso came to Aquinas in September of 2004, he ensured that Aquinas’ educational standards of excellence were upheld,” the school said in its statement.
“We wish him the best,” Knapp said.
