Jann Armantrout, life-issues coordinator for the Diocese of Rochester, will visit St. Mary Parish in Waterloo at 7 p.m. Feb. 27 to discuss Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s proposed Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act.
Armantrout’s visit is billed as a Lenten learning opportunity for parishioners and anyone interested. The proposed Reproductive Health and Privacy Act would eliminate controls on legal abortion, and it could possibly force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions and employers and health-insurance plans to pay for abortion, according to the New York State Catholic Conference, which is the public-policy arm of the state’s bishops.
Armantrout will discuss the impact the proposed bill would have upon parents, unborn children and Catholic hospitals, and she will tell parishioners what they can do to "stop Spitzer’s bad RHAPP."
St. Mary Church is located at 25 Center St. For more information, contact the parish at 315-539-2944.
