The penitential season of Lent began March 6 with the distribution of ashes at parishes across the Diocese of Rochester. Bishop Salvatore R. Matano visited Brighton’s St. Thomas More Church to celebrate an Ash Wednesday liturgy for parishioners as well as students from Siena Catholic Academy.
