Auburn celebration to honor Mary’s queenship

A celebration honoring Mary will take place at Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the outdoor shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes next to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 303 Clark St. in Auburn.

This second-annual Queenship of Mary celebration will be hosted by St. Francis’ Sunday Night Rosary Group and the Rosary and Scapular Society of St. Mary Parish in Auburn. Father Frank Lioi, pastor of St. Mary, will preside at the ceremony and will be assisted by Deacon Gary DiLallo, pastoral administrator at Auburn’s St. Francis and St. Hyacinth parishes.

The Marian celebration will include a living rosary, a sung Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary and a candlelight procession, followed by a homily and the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament inside St. Francis Church. All are invited to enjoy refreshments afterwards in the parish’s Nacca Hall.

Limited seating will be available at the shrine, and participants are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs.

Anyone interested in participating in the living rosary by leading a "Hail Mary" should contact Toni Considine at 315-252-6281 or Frank Guariglia at 315-252-7226.
