In early May the food pantry at St. Alphonsus Church in Auburn experienced a food shortage. While its food supply is now stable, the pantry always needs donations of food.
Coordinator Sue Norton expects the need to grow now that gas prices are on the rise, since people may be forced to choose between buying gas and feeding their families.
The food pantry always needs dish and laundry detergents, hand and body soaps, toothpaste, deodorant, canned fruit, vegetables, soups, boxed cereals, Jell-O, instant potatoes, pudding and similar products. Also needed are diapers, feminine-hygiene products and paper products such as toilet paper, Norton said.
Donations may be dropped off at the food pantry, which is located across from St. Alphonsus Church, 85 E. Genesee St. Donations may also be dropped off at the church rectory or in a box inside the doorway of the church.
