Auburn parish plans retreat, memory garden

Passionist Brother Michael Moran, CP, will lead a three-day retreat Aug. 12, 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. at St. Mary Church, located at 15 Clark St. in Auburn.

The theme of the Aug. 12 session will be "The Desert: Going Within," with a focus on an icon of John the Baptist. The next night’s theme is "The Cross: Extravagant Love," and the focus will be on the Good Friday Cross, and the final night, with a theme of "Memory: Transforming Our Story," will focus on a painting of the road to Emmaus.

On the following day, Aug. 15, the parish will mark its patronal feast — the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary — with a 7 p.m. Mass featuring Gregorian chant. Music at the Mass will be provided by two choirs and two organs.

St. Mary also will host a Memory Garden of Roses Aug. 11-15. Anyone interested may purchase a red, white or yellow rose for $2 in memory of someone deceased or in honor of someone living.

For more information about any of these events, contact St. Mary Parish at 315-252-9545.
