August’s winner was Lilibeth McKechney, a seventh-grader at Martha Brown Middle School in Fairport. In response to Why is it so important to believe in the promises that God makes to us? Lilibeth wrote, “It is so important to believe in the promises that God makes us because of how many extraordinary things he has performed. For example, God promised Abraham that he would have descendants as countless as the stars! And he kept it. It says in Romans 10:9 “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raises him from the dead, you will be saved.” By having faith in God and believing in his promise and love, we will go to heaven and this is one of God’s greatest gifts.”
