Barbecue to mark St. Ann’s centennial

St. Ann Parish in Owasco will hold its annual chicken barbecue and bazaar July 22 at 11 a.m. at the church, located on Route 38A.

St. Ann is celebrating its 100th anniversary, so this year the event will feature horse-drawn wagon rides, basket-weaving demonstrations, a wine-tasting booth and a rug-braiding demonstration. Alpacas will be at the picnic, and there also will be ice cream for sale. The barbecue also will include games, raffles and live music by the Soda Ash Six and Alexander Music.

The parish previously celebrated its anniversary with a Mass and dinner with Bishop Matthew H. Clark in January and a dinner-dance in May. St. Ann also will celebrate with a chicken and biscuit dinner Sept. 9 at Camp Columbus before concluding its anniversary year with a Mass at 9 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
