An “alternative Christmas bazaar” will be held Nov. 12-13 at the Ss. Peter and Paul Parish Center, 160 High St., Elmira. The event will run from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Items on sale will include handcrafted products from artisans in developing countries, such as jewelry, toys, linens, religious items, silk scarves and ornaments. Also available will be fair-trade gourmet coffee and tea, as well as chocolate. Purchases will help provide a fair income for artisans and farmers, and also support Catholic Relief Services.
Pizza, hot dogs, coffee and doughnuts will be available, and live music will be played. The parish center is wheelchair-accessible.
The bazaar is sponsored by the social-ministry committees of parishes in Chemung County.
