Beginning Experience of Rochester is offering a one-day retreat, “Coping With Life Alone,” on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Notre Dame Retreat House, 5151 Foster Road, Canandaigua.
This new program will help participants enduring the loss of a loved one deal with the natural grief process and offers an opportunity, through God, for moving into the future with renewed hope. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with coffee and light refreshments, and the program will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $40, which includes lunch and all materials. Registration is limited. COVID-19 guidelines, including the wearing of masks, will be enforced for everybody’s safety. Beginning Experience is a peer support ministry for those suffering the loss of a spouse through death, divorce or separation. According to its website, the ministry can be helpful to people who are having trouble accepting that they no longer have a partner; are experiencing unresolved anger that they need to deal with; have run out of friends or family members to whom they can tell their story; feel isolated and are having difficulty making new acquaintances; and/or wish they could move forward. Many of the program’s facilitators have been through similar experiences.
In addition to the Nov. 14 retreat, Beginning Experience of Rochester is planning weekends at Notre Dame Retreat House April 23-25 and Oct. 29-31, 2021. The ministry also offers a 10-week rebuilding workshop, with dates to be announced.
