Bishop Matthew H. Clark will bless La Casa — a new transitional house for migrant farm workers in the diocese — during a dedication ceremony at 3 p.m. Oct. 23 at the house, 26 Maple Ave., Sodus.
The house is an initiative of diocesan Catholic Charities’ Project Unity and Catholic Charities of Wayne County. The house was purchased in December 2004, and since then a few staff members and volunteers from more than 50 parishes and groups throughout the diocese have worked to renovate the building.
La Casa will hopefully provide a place for bridge-building and communication between the migrant and Anglo communities, said Sister of St. Joseph Janet Korn, social-justice awareness coordinator for diocesan Catholic Charities.
