The Bishops of New York State honored Bishop Emeritus Matthew H. Clark with the John Cardinal O’Connor Award for Extraordinary Service March 20. The award recognized his decades of commitment to the public-policy agenda of the New York State Catholic Conference as well as his service of more than 50 years in the priesthood and 33 years as a bishop. The award was presented by his close friend, Bishop Howard J. Hubbard of Albany, at the conclusion of the annual Catholics at the Capitol Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Albany. Bishop Clark also delivered the homily during the Mass.
