Bishop makes 2008-09 pastoral appointments

Bishop Matthew H. Clark has announced the following pastoral appointments, which became effective June 24 unless otherwise noted.

* Father Peter Abas to sacramental minister, Guardian Angels, Henrietta, concurrent with duties as chaplain, Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse, Brighton, from parochial administrator, St. Anne, Rochester.

* Father Peter Anglaaere to pastor, Our Lady of the Valley, Hornell, from parochial vicar, St. Mary, Bath, effective July 5.

* Father Michael Bausch to a second six-year term as pastor, Church of the Transfiguration, Pittsford.

* Father Philip Billotte, parochial vicar at All Saints, Corning, retired Jan. 5.

* Father Paul Bonacci to a second six-year term as pastor, Schuyler Catholic Community, Watkins Glen.

* Father Mark Brewer to parochial vicar, St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Greece from pastor St. Michael Parish, Newark, effective September 16, 2008.

* Sister Joan Cawley, SSJ, to pastoral administrator, Church of the Resurrection, Fairport, from sabbatical.

* Father Peter Deckman, parochial vicar at Holy Apostles and Holy Family, Rochester, is retiring.

* Nancy DeRycke to pastoral administrator, Good Shepherd, Henrietta, from pastoral administrator, Church of the Resurrection, Fairport.

* Father John Firpo to pastor, St. Charles Borromeo, Greece, from pastor, St. Helen, Gates.

* Father John Gagnier to parochial administrator, Our Lady of Mercy, Greece, with concurrent duties as pastor, Holy Name of Jesus, Greece, from pastor of the Greece parish only.

* Father John Gathenya, to parochial administrator, Our Lady of the Snow, Weedsport, from parochial vicar, Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Community, Penn Yan.

* Father George Heyman to sacramental minister, Church of the Resurrection, Fairport, concurrent with duties at St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry, Pittsford, from sacramental minister, Guardian Angels, Henrietta.

* Father Daniel Holland to a second six-year term as pastor, St. Pius Tenth, Chili.

* Father James Jaeger to sacramental minister, St. Mary, Bath, and St. Gabriel, Hammondsport, from pastor, the Catholic Communities of St. Anne and St. Gregory, Palmyra and Marion.

* Father Stanley Kacprzak to a second six-year term as pastor, St. Paul, Webster.

* Father William Laird to pastor, St. Anne, Palmyra, and St. Gregory, Marion, concurrent with duties as pastor, St. Patrick, Macedon, from parochial administrator of the Macedon parish only.

* Father William Leone to parochial administrator, St. Cecilia, Irondequoit, from pastor, St. Anne, Rochester.

* Father Christopher Linsler to a second six-year term as pastor, St. Mary Our Mother, Horseheads.

* Father John Loncle to an additional year as parochial vicar, the Cathedral Community, Rochester.

* Father Kevin McKenna to pastor, the Cathedral Community, Rochester, from pastor, St. Cecilia, Irondequoit. He replaces Father John Mulligan, who is retiring.

* Father Anthony Mugavero to pastor, Holy Apostles, Rochester, from parochial vicar, Our Lady of the Americas, Rochester, effective Dec. 30 after he returns from his sabbatical, which begins in July.

* Father Malachy Nwosu to parochial administrator, St. Helen, Gates, from pastor, Our Lady of the Snow, Weedsport.

* Father John Orenge Omboga to temporary sacramental minister, Our Lady of the Valley, Hornell, effective June 4, then parochial vicar, Our Lady of the Lakes, Penn Yan, effective July 5, from assisting priest, Our Lady of Lourdes, Brighton.

* Margaret Ostromecki to pastoral administrator, Our Lady Queen of Peace and St. Thomas More, Brighton, from pastoral administrator of Our Lady Queen of Peace only.

* Father John Reif is retiring as parochial vicar, Holy Cross, Charlotte, but will continue his ministry there.

* Father Michael Schramel to pastor, St. Jude the Apostle, Gates, from parochial administrator there.

* Sister Joan Sobala, SSJ, to pastoral administrator, Our Lady of Lourdes, Brighton, and St. Anne, Rochester, from pastoral administrator of the Brighton parish only.

* Deacon Edison Tayag to graduate studies in Rome after his June 28 priestly ordination.

* Father Paul Tomasso to pastor, Our Lady of Peace, Geneva, from pastor, Holy Apostles and Holy Family, Rochester, effective Dec. 30. He replaces Father Roy Kiggins, who is retiring.

* Father Gary Tyman to sacramental minister, Our Lady of Lourdes, Brighton, and St. Anne, Rochester, from pastor, Our Lady of Mercy, Greece.

* Father Michael Upson to sacramental minister, Our Lady Queen of Peace and St. Thomas More, Brighton, concurrent with duties as chaplain, Monroe Community College, Rochester, from the diocesan Office of Black Ministry and chaplain, Sisters of Mercy Motherhouse, Brighton.

* Father Patrick Van Durme to military duty from pastor, Our Lady of the Valley, Hornell, effective June 8.
