Bishop Salvatore R. Matano celebrated the annual Respect Life Mass Oct. 5 at Rochester’s Sacred Heart Cathedral. Bishop Matano was principal homilist for the Mass, which marked the opening of Respect Life Month. Since 1973, the Catholic Church in the United States has designated October as Respect Life Month and the first Sunday of the month as Respect Life Sunday.
