Bishop Salvatore R. Matano and hundreds of Catholics from across the diocese prayed for peace in Ukraine during the Mass for the Solemnity of the Annunciation March 25 at Rochester’s Sacred Heart Cathedral. Earlier that day, Pope Francis had consecrated Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Following Communion, Bishop Matano prayed the Act of Consecration in front of a statue of Mary, and children brought forward flowers to be placed at the statue’s base.
