Bishop Salvatore R. Matano will join diocesan parishioners in Washington, D.C., for the annual March for Life, which will take place Jan. 22.
Diocesan parishioners will travel to the nation’s capital Jan. 21 and 22. The march marks the 41 years since the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions legalized abortion in the United States. The U.S. bishops have designated Jan. 22 a day of prayer and penance in reparation for sins committed against human life.
Bishop Matano will meet with Rochester pilgrims following the 7:30 a.m. Jan. 22 solemn Mass for Life at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
He also will meet Rochester pilgrims at 1 p.m. at the start of the march on the corner of Seventh and Madison at the National Gallery of Art.
