In anticipation of next year’s National Black Catholic Congress XII, African-American Catholics gathered Aug. 27 for a Day of Reflection held at the diocesan Pastoral Center in Gates. Several workshops were available during the daylong event, and a Mass with Bishop Salvatore R. Matano rounded out the day. Dioceses around the country are holding these Days of Reflection to collect information that will be sent in a report to congress organizers. The information will be used to create the agenda for the congress, which will be held July 6-9, 2017, in Orlando.
