To the editor:
One sad result of the Zimmerman/Martin trial was the racist hype of the liberal news media.
They injected racism in a trial where none was evident. For example, George Zimmerman took a girl of color to a prom. He also counseled young African Americans.
During his trial it was evident that Mr. Zimmerman tried to stop Mr. Martin from savagely beating him. Acting in self-defense, he shot Mr. Martin.
Unfortunately, there are those like CNS columnist Carole Norris Greene who believe otherwise (see "Case was about race," Catholic Courier, August 2013).
Fortunately, more reasonable thinking prevailed and Mr. Zimmerman was acquitted.
