Sacred Heart Parish in Auburn will host a book club during the month of May. In keeping with the Diocese of Rochester’s decision to list issues affecting Africa among its social-ministry priorities for the year, book-club members will learn about and discuss these issues.
During the first meeting, which was held May 2, members watched and discussed the 2004 movie “Hotel Rwanda.” At the next meeting, which will be held May 9 at 7 p.m., members will discuss the historical background of the events portrayed in the movie. Members will also meet at 7 p.m. each Tuesday evening between May 16 and 30 to discuss Immaculee Llibagiza’s book Left to Tell, which recounts Llibagiza’s survival of genocide in Rwanda.
