ROCHESTER — Area residents can witness poverty firsthand and interact with organizations working to end poverty during a "Rochester Reality Tour" to be held Oct. 17.
The tour also will offer ways residents can become involved in fighting for social justice, according to information from the Social Welfare Action Alliance, which organized the tour. Sponsors include the House of Mercy, the Rochester Poor Peoples Coalition, St. John Fisher College’s sociology department and the Monroe County Federation of Social Workers.
The bus tour will leave at 11:45 a.m. from the Rochester’s Martin B. Anderson School No. 1 at 85 Hillside Ave. and return about 3:45 p.m. Organizers are asking for donations of $20 and $15 for students upon registration.
