Canandaigua school to host Chosen Run 5K

St. Mary School in Canandaigua will host the second-annual Chosen Run 5K race at 10 a.m. on Aug. 26, during St. Mary Parish’s annual Summer Festival.

Runners will begin the race on Gibson Street, which borders the school on the south, run through several streets and cross the finish line on Hubble Street, which is to the east of the school. T-shirts will be given to the first 100 runners, and the first-place male and female finishers will each receive $50. The first three male and female finishers in each of eight age groups will each receive a complimentary drink from the festival.

The entry fee is $12 for students under 21 and $15 for all other adults who send in pre-registrations postmarked by Aug. 15. After that date and on the race day, the entry fee is $18. Proceeds will benefit St. Mary School, and registration and number pick-up will be from 8:30 until 9:45 a.m. the day of the race.

There also will be a free, .3-mile Fun Run for children 12 and under.

Registration forms and more information may be found on the school’s Web site, www.stmaryscanandaigua.org. For additional information, contact Anne Marie Deutsch, principal, or Linda Rowsick, secretary, at 585/394-4300 or e-mail them at smcdcs@dor.org.
