Carmelite nuns make World Mission Rosaries ahead of beatification

The Discalced Carmelites of Rochester, a cloistered and contemplative order of nuns in Pittsford, have been making World Mission Rosaries ahead of the beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen. The order was tasked with creating 1,000 rosaries to be distributed during the beatification on Sept. 24. Archbishop Sheen designed the rosary in 1951 to encourage prayer for the entire world, with different colors representing specific global regions and their missionary needs.

EDITOR’S NOTE: World Mission Rosaries made by Rochester’s Discalced Carmelite Sisters and others in the Rochester Diocese will be available at the Sept. 29 Mass during which Bishop John S. Bonnici will receive a relic of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen from the Diocese of Peoria, Ill.
