Bishop Matthew H. Clark will dedicate the renovated Sacred Heart Cathedral during a 4 p.m. Mass on Friday, Jan. 21.
People wishing to attend the Mass must obtain advance tickets, which will be distributed by mail on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tickets may be requested by mailing the necessary information to Mary Moorhouse at Diocese of Rochester, 1150 Bufflao Road, Rochester, NY 14624; faxing it to her at 585-328-3149 or e-mailing to moorhouse@dor.org. Requests must include your name, mailing address, daytime phone number, number attending and any special needs you may have. The diocese cannot honor requests for more than two tickets each.
Members of the diocese also will have opportunities to visit the renovated cathedral for special events scheduled throughout 2005. The first of these will be an open house with cathedral tours from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, followed by ecumenical solemn evening prayer at 7 p.m.
“We want to provide lots of opportunities, beside the initial liturgy, for people to come and celebrate the restored cathedral,” said Charlotte Bruney, who co-chairs the prayer and worship subcommittee of the cathedral renovation committee.
The Catholic Courier will publish a schedule of 2005 cathedral events in its January monthly edition, along with a preview of the dedication ceremony.
