Cathedral will host ‘Senior Scene’ May 19

High-school seniors from around the diocese are invited to attend the second annual “Senior Scene” at Rochester’s Sacred Heart Cathedral. It will take place Friday, May 19, from 9:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

This day of prayer, music, fun and fellowship is designed to enhance the connection between graduating seniors and their church while also preparing them for Christian adulthood. The day will include witnesses by guest speakers; lunch; and conversation, closing prayer and blessing from Bishop Matthew H. Clark.

Father Patrick Van Durme, pastor of Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Steuben County, will serve as host. The scheduled keynote speaker is inspirational musician Tony Melendez, who was born without arms and plays the guitar with his feet. Melendez also appeared at the inaugural Senior Scene last spring.

Senior Scene is open to all diocesan high-school seniors. Cost is $15 per person, and registration deadline is May 10. Those interested in attending should contact their parish for registration information. Details also may be obtained by contacting Carol Dady at the diocesan Office of Vocations Awareness at 585/461-2890.
