Catholic Charities’ annual event benefits Geneva lunch program

Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes’ annual Hoedown for Hunger will take place Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. at Geneva On the Lake, which is located on the shore of Seneca Lake at 1001 Lochland Road in Geneva.

The hoedown is a fundraiser for the Geneva Community Lunch Program, which provides free, nutritious meals five days a week. The program, a partnership between Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes and the Geneva Area Interfaith Council, has provided more than 20,000 meals in the past year alone, and organizers say hunger continues to be a problem in Geneva and the surrounding community.

Hoedown attendees will each enjoy backyard-barbecue-themed foods and a signature drink. Rick Hoyt and the Cool Country Club will provide music, and Bob Nicholson will be the guest caller for the evening’s square dancing.

Tickets may be purchased for $35 apiece or $65 for two tickets, and must be purchased by Sept. 2. To learn more or purchase tickets, contact Rhonda Zettlemoyer at 315-789-2235, ext. 104, or email her at rhonda.zettlemoyer@dor.org.
