Catholic Charities efforts raise awareness of local hunger

Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes will hold its annual Empty Bowls dinners in Geneva and Auburn this month.

The events are intended to raise awareness of and financial support for CCFL’s hunger-related programs.

The dinners will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the following dates:

• Oct. 17, Our Lady of Peace Parish Center, Center Street, Geneva

‚Ä¢ Oct. 19, Sacred Heart Church’s parish hall, 90 Melrose Road, Auburn

During the dinners, guests will learn about local anti-poverty efforts and receive commemorative handmade ceramic bowls. The bowls are being made and donated by local artists and organizations, including the Rochester Folk Art Guild, Geneva High School’s art department and Cayuga Community College’s studio art and design program.

Tickets, which are $20 for adults and $10 for children under age 10, may be purchased by visiting catholiccharitiesfl.org.
