Catholic Charities of Wayne County recently received a total of $5,000 in grants from the Wayne County Community Endowment Advisory Committee of the Rochester Area Community Foundation.
The Wayne County Endowment is a permanent endowment fund started in 1984 at Rochester Area Community Foundation. The endowment’s advisory committee recently awarded grants totalling $61,405 to 32 nonprofit agencies that provide services to Wayne County residents. Catholic Charities of Wayne County received a $3,500 grant to support its College Bound program, which helps teens without home support as they navigate through the college-application process and apply for financial aid. It also received a $1,500 grant to support the operations of its community clothing center.
The agency’s Emergency Assistance Food Pantry in Newark is one of 22 Wayne County food pantries that received grants. St. John’s Food Pantry in Clyde, a ministry of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, also received a grant.
