Catholic Charities seeks used prom dresses

Catholic Charities of Wayne County is seeking donations of used prom and bridesmaid dresses for low-income girls in the area who otherwise might not be able to attend their high-school proms.

The collection is a joint effort of the agency’s Community Clothing Center in Wolcott and its College Bound program, which provides support to academically qualified high-school juniors and seniors and encourages them to pursue college degrees.

The dresses must be in good condition, appropriate, dry cleaned if possible and not outdated. Donations of jewelry, shoes and purses also will be accepted. Donated dresses and accessories must be received by March 20 and may be brought to Catholic Charities of Wayne County at 1141 E. Union St. in Newark or the Community Clothing Center at 12019 E. Main St. in Wolcott.

For more information, contact Christine Guyette-Vienna, coordinator of the Community Clothing Center, at 315-290-2160 or cguyette-vienna@dor.org.
