Catholic Charities to honor six people

The Cayuga County office of Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes will honor six individuals at the fifth annual Works of Love Dinner, which will be held at 6 p.m. April 4 at the Springside Inn, 6141 W. Lake Road, Auburn.

At the dinner, the Works of Love Award will be presented to Charlie and Sue Norton of the St. Alphonsus Food Pantry in Auburn; the Rev. Bob and Lorraine Canino from First Love Ministries; and Donna and Wayne Wolfgang from the Western Cayuga County Emergency Food Pantry. The award is presented each year to local individuals who have reflected God’s mercy, compassion and love through their everyday lives.

Bishop Matthew H. Clark will be a special guest at the dinner, and Guy T. Cosentino will be the keynote speaker. Cosentino is executive director of Options for Independence, an independent-living center that helps people with disabilities make their own decisions, pursue activities and become part of community life. Cosentino has made significant contributions to the lives of people with disabilities, and in May 2005 he received the New York State Senate Achievers’ Award from Sen. Michael Nozzolio.

The family-style dinner will include appetizers, and tickets may be purchased for $35 apiece. The dinner is open to the public, but advance reservations are required.

For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Laurie Trojnor at Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes’ Cayuga County office at 315/253-2222.
