Catholic Daughters name Rochester-area contest winners

Local winners were recently announced by Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Nativity of Our Lady 931, Brockport, in the annual Express Your Faith Contest.

Separate categories were featured for poetry, essays, art and photography. A total of 74 entries in the Diocese of Rochester were submitted.

Winners are:

Poetry Division 1 (grades 4-5): first place, Carly Congelli, St. Lawrence School, Greece; second, Sammy Rapone, St. Pius Tenth School, Chili; third, Theo Manos, St. Pius Tenth School.

Poetry Division 4 (CDA member): first, Charilla S. Conner, Court 931; second, Mary M. Smith, Court 931; third, Barbara Joan Miller, Court 931.

Essay Division 1 (grades 4-5): first, Ariana Gerber, St. Pius Tenth School; second, Matthew S. Goforth, St. Pius Tenth School; third, Grace Allen, St. Pius Tenth School.

Essay Division 2 (grades 6-8): first, Anthony DiBiase, St. Mark Parish, Greece.

Art Division 1 (grades 4-5): first, Zoe Epstein, St. Rita School, Webster; second, Peter Steenberge, St. Rita School; third, Primo Catalano, St. Rita School; honorable mention, Vivian Simpson, St. Rita School.

Art Division 4 (CDA member): first, Barbara Joan Miller, Court 931.

Photography Division 2 (grades 6-8): first, Izzy Congelli, St. John the Evangelist Parish, Spencerport.
