Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Nativity of Our Lady No. 931 in Brockport recently announced the winners of its essay contest.
Contestants were invited to write an essay on one of two topics: “Our Mother’s Loving Touch” or “I Can Make a Difference.” The court received entries from 107 local public, private and home-schooled students.
The winners were:
Division I, Grades 4 and 5
* First place: Casey MacClaren
* Second place: Elizabeth Fenton
* Third place: Marissa Maenza
Division II, Grades 6, 7 and 8
* First place: Alexandra Keery
* Second place: Adam Zsolnai
* Third place: Amy VanHooft
Division III, Grades 9, 10, 11 and 12
* First place: Chelsea O’Connor
* Second place: Robert MacClaren
* Third place: Stephanie Borrayo
The essays of first-place winners were submitted in a state-level essay competition. Chelsea O’Connor’s essay placed second in that competition.
