Catholic Family Center in Rochester renovates apartments

With the completion of an extensive building renovation, Catholic Family Center is now offering new options for permanent supportive adult housing.

Joseph Avenue Apartments, located at 539 Joseph Ave., Rochester, provide up to nine adults with the support they need to live safely, stably and independently. A celebration of the apartments’ opening took place Nov. 12, with several officials from Catholic Family Center and the local community in attendance.

The apartments are located adjacent to Francis Center — an emergency shelter for men, also operated by Catholic Family Center — that was refurbished as well. Residences are fully furnished and allow single men and women to move into a permanent home of their own with the assistance of a full-time case manager, an evening security guard, and access to peer, nursing and behavioral health support. Units are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and also offer free laundry.

The Joseph Avenue Apartments facility is owned by Catholic Family Center and has been renovated with $4.2 million in funding from the New York State Homeless Housing and Assistance Program and a $250,000 operational grant from the state’s Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative.
