Catholic Moms sponsor Victor conference, promote priestly vocations

Two diocesan priests will give a talk next month about vocations and fidelity to the Catholic Church in difficult times.

Father Peter Van Lieshout and Father Matthew Walter will be the featured speakers at a Nov. 9 conference titled “Keeping Our Gaze on Christ as His Faithful Church: Promoting Vocations to the Ordained Priesthood.” The conference is sponsored by the Catholic Moms of Rochester and will begin at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick Church, located at 115 Maple Ave. in Victor.

Father Van Lieshout is pastor of St. Peter Parish in Ontario County and diocesan codirector of Priesthood Vocations Awareness. Father Walter, who was ordained last June, is parochial vicar at St. Michael Parish in Newark and Blessed Trinity Catholic Community in Wayne County. After the two priests speak, adoration and Benediction will be offered, followed by light refreshments.

The event is open to men and women throughout the diocese. There is no charge to attend, although good-will donations will be accepted.
