Catholic schools are soon going to have something to celebrate, when they mark Catholic Schools Week Saturday, Jan. 27, through Friday, Feb. 2.
The activities are nearly as diverse as the schools themselves. For example, kids from Seton Catholic School in Brighton will celebrate with a Teddy Bear picnic, by dressing as a favorite story book character and by hosting a peanut-butter-and-jelly drive for the local food pantry.
St. John Bosco School in Seneca Falls will celebrate its feast day Jan. 31 with a 10 a.m. liturgy at St. Patrick Church. Siena Catholic Academy in Brighton will announce the creation of a new scholarship during a coffee hour Jan. 30. St. Lawrence School in Greece will be designated as a peace site, which will be designed to instill non-violence values.
Roller-skating parties, book fairs and open houses are part of many school celebrations. All Catholic schools will welcome visitors from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31.
