Marion Roberts, a parishioner of Schuyler Catholic Community, celebrated her 103rd birthday Nov. 9.

Jennifer Roberts-O’Brian, a 1987 graduate of Elmira Notre Dame High School, and Michael Hosey, a 1975 graduate, were honored by the school Oct. 4 with Catherine McAuley Awards in recognition of people who follow the ideals of Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy.
Catholic Charities of Schuyler County has received a donation of $12,000 from Cargill Inc. The funds will be used to implement the agency’s Family Nutrition Program assisting families in need.

Catholic Charities of Schuyler County honored 150 volunteers Sept. 21 at the Harbor Hotel in Watkins Glen. Volunteers were lauded for their support that includes staffing food pantries each month; donating and distributing furniture to people in need; and many others areas for service. Catholic Charities welcomes additional volunteers. Adeline Mezur of Elmira’s Christ the Redeemer Parish celebrated her 103rd birthday on Aug. 21. She has been a lifelong attendee of St. Casimir Church, and has been active in social-ministry endeavors while also lending financial support to such efforts as the annual Christmas basket program.

Catholic Charities of Schuyler County has been awarded $3,000 from the Community Foundation of Elmira-Corning and the Finger Lakes Inc. Funds are being used in part to purchase phone equipment and minute cards for victims leaving domestic violence situations. The other portion was used to buy a new refrigerator for the Schuyler Outreach food pantry.

Nileta Nuthall, a member of St. Mary Southside Parish in Elmira, turned 100 years old on March 5.
