I was among a lot of love and happiness this weekend.
On Saturday, I had the great privilege of attending the wedding of my good friend, Renee Keiser. Renee and her new husband, Steve Patterson, had a beautiful ceremony and reception in Bristol, Ontario County. In addition to celebrating Renee and Steve’s nuptials, it also was a great day of catching up with some good friends and making more memories together.
On Sunday, I was given the opportunity to attend the Wedding Jubilee Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Having never been to the Wedding Jubilee Mass before, I was surprised to see so many couples, some with their families. I also was in awe when the couples stood to be recognized for the number of years they had been married. Not just the couples who were married 60 and 70 years, but also several couples celebrating 40 and 50 years as well. I had the opportunity to talk with both Angela and Tom Lauria and Eleanor and Tom Kozlowski, who will be celebrating their 71st and 70th wedding anniversaries, respectively, later this year. Not only was I impressed with how well they were doing age-wise (all of them are in their 90s), but I could easily see the love they had for one another.
While I have yet to celebrate the sacrament of marriage, I was honored to be a part of both celebrations. There was definitely a lot of love and happiness, and I look forward to the day when I can experience that firsthand at my own wedding.
